Russia's extensive use of glide bombs has played a significant role in their recent successes on the battlefield. These powerful weapons rain down on Ukraine every week, leaving behind massive 20meterwide craters and obliterating military positions. In their latest offensive in Kharkiv Oblast, Russia heavily relied on glide bombs to pave the way for their ground troops. Since May 10, Russian forces have seized control of numerous villages near the border and have even entered the town of Vovchansk.
Despite their simplicity and low cost, glide bombs have proven to be highly effective for Russia in fullscale warfare. They played a significant role in the capture of Avdiivka, a strategic city, marking Russia's first major victory in months.
Meanwhile, although Ukraine continues to receive advanced air defenses and other military equipment from its allies, it still faces challenges in defending against glide bombs. This makes us wonder: Why hasn't Ukraine been able to effectively counter these weapons?
