The Susanoo is a jutsu that got a retcon in Naruto Shippuden. Itachi used the Susanoo for the first time to tank Kirin in the Sasuke vs Itachi fight, stomping Orochimaru and showing off the Totsuka Blade and the Yata Mirror. Initially the Susanoo was a combination of Tsukuyomi and Amaterasu, Itachi's Mangekyou Sharingan abilities, and it was supposed to be an ability unique to him.

However, Kishimoto made a retcon making the Susanoo an ability that Uchihas that awakened both Mangekyou Sharingan would have access to, turning it into a more general Uchiha power. Madara has a Susanoo, Sasuke has a Susanoo, even Kakashi gets a Susanoo in the fight against Kaguya.
