Why NO ONE Cares About Mario Strikers Battle League Anymore

Mario Strikers: Battle League. The game released less than 4 months ago and people have already stopped caring about it, and I think free DLC has something to do with this.

So in the most recent Nintendo Direct, the trailer for the 2nd wave of free DLC for Mario Strikers: Battle League was released and after the Nintendo Direct, I came to the realisation, that no one cares about Mario Strikers: Battle League anymore and free DLC is to blame for this.

For the people that don’t understand how free DLC is having a negative impact on not only Mario Strikers: Battle League, but gaming as a whole, let me explain.

Now with Mario Strikers: Battle League, the game was released with barely any content, and that is a fact, you can’t argue against that. So when the game was released, people, with myself included, got bored of it really quickly as there was just nothing to do, there were barely any game modes, and heaps of characters and unique stadiums were missing.

So when Battle League’s free DLC is released, not only does it annoy people, as the content in the DLC should’ve been in the base game, but not many people enjoyed the game enough to bother downloading and going back to the game to play as Pauline or Shy Guy. Yes it is cool that these characters are in the game, but they aren’t really adding that much to the game, to make people wanna go back to it.

Now if Mario Strikers: Battle League released with the 4 DLC characters, ranked online play and a story mode, and the game then received free DLC, that would be great. As there is nothing wrong with a finished game getting more content, especially when it’s free.

The problem with free DLC is when the content in the free DLC should’ve been in the base game, and in Mario Strikers: Battle, all of the content that has been in the two waves of free DLC, should have been in the game from day one.

Now I’ve made quite a few videos on Mario Strikers: Battle League on this channel and this will probably be the last one. I guess you can say that I milked the game for content but that’s not really what I was trying to do.

When I played Mario Strikers: Charged on the Wii when I was around 5 years old I absolutely loved the game. Seeing my favourite Mario characters play my favourite sport was simply incredible.

Since then, I always wanted a new Mario Strikers game to release, like I even made a video on the channel about how desperate I was for a Mario Strikers game to release on the Switch way back at the start of 2021, so over a year before Battle League was even revealed.

Then Battle League was revealed and that was probably the most exciting I'd ever been for a Nintendo Direct announcement, then fast forward 4 months, the game releases, and I don’t think I’ll ever be more disappointed in my life.
