The Republic F105 Thunderchief is a supersonic fighterbomber designed to carryout lowaltitude strikes against strategic targets. The F105 evolved from a nuclear strike plane to become a versatile plane with a variety of unique features. These planes were vital to the early stages of the Vietnam War, and the F105 was eventually chosen to carry out the Wild Weasel role which is one of the most deadly missions in the history of the United States Air Force.
