The politics of the CIS, or Separatist Alliance, were very different from those of the Rebel Alliance in Star Wars, specifically in Star Wars Legends which we're talking about today. The Galactic Empire under Palpatine tried to play up similarities, but Rebel leaders like Mon Mothma and Bail Organa had different ideas on what was allowed within the Rebellion.
