This post explores the benefits of being a fitness "Jack of All Trades." It seems the default approach to training is to pick one modality and then try to be the best in that area whether it's weightlifting, running, or calisthenics. To me, it makes a lot more sense to train in as many areas as you want.
Does training in multiple disciplines mean you won't be as good as you could be at any one of those? Perhaps! But I feel the pros outweigh the cons, for all sorts of reasons.
