They were originally published in the 1800's and are incredibly hard to read and learn from. If you want to see what an old copybook looked like, then go ahead and buy a set. If you actually want to learn Spencerian, don't waste your money or time. You're better off studying an exemplar and reading any of books about Spencerian or Business Penmanship that are available online for free (e.g. Champion Method or Lessons in Ornamental Penmanship).
