Widespread corruption in Ukraine: how to eliminate the evil? | The Cost of the State

Over the years of independence, Ukraine has been an outsider among the countries of the world in the Corruption Perceptions Index. It reached its peak during Yanukovych's time: Ukraine was ranked 152nd out of 180 countries. We were considered the most corrupt country in Europe. The Kremlin skillfully used this fact, labeling us as a "failed state" and questioning the feasibility of Ukrainian independence.

Corruption made a small group of people billionaires and millionaires while turning the rest of the population into beggars. A key turning point in the fight against corruption in Ukraine occurred in 2014. The situation was changed by the active civil society after the Revolution of Dignity. In this video, we will discuss whether Ukraine really cannot escape the corruption trap, whether there have been any changes, and what awaits Ukrainians in the future hopelessness or prosperity.

The "Cost of the State" thanks Artem Sytnyk, Director of the NABU from 2015 to 2022, for expert consultations. Without them, this video would not have been possible.
