What does WiFi Smart Connect Do?
The whole goal of WiFi Smart Connect is to make it easier for users on the network to get the best internet connections without having to take any action. With WiFi Smart Connect, only one wireless network is visible to the users who are trying to connect to WiFi (as opposed to separate 2G and 5G networks).

Once connected to the WiFi network, the router will decide what frequency wireless network the device should be connected to (2.4 GHz, 5 GHz). The router makes this decision based upon a number of factors including:

The device’s signal strength with the different wireless networks (2.4 GHz vs. 5 GHz)
The technical capabilities of the device (i.e. if the device can only connect to 2.4 GHz frequencies)
The current utilization of the different wireless networks

With all of these decisions being made for the end user, all the user has to do is connect to the wireless network. There’s no need to manually switch wireless networks based upon the current condition of the wireless network.

As you’ll see in the video above, this is all good in theory, but the experience in practice may not be as simple as it sounds…
