Recent catastrophic wildfires in the United States have highlighted the increasing threat of wildfires to urban and rural communities. Over the past 10 years an average of 6.5 million acres of land was burned each year by wildfire and nearly 70,000 U.S. communities are at risk of suffering some level of damage from wildfires. It has become increasingly apparent that communities and individuals existing within or near fireprone ecosystems must adapt and prepare themselves in order to survive they must learn to live with wild land fire.
