The Hobby chick is 10 days old today and is growing stronger! Today Mom Hobby gave six feedings to her chick and we get to see the chick starting to preen itself and stretch out its tiny winglets! ♥

Mom Hobby is on the nest and she is wanting to preen her chest feathers but the chick is in the way. She moves around and then looks down at her little one ♥ Mom will leave and we have some nice views of the little Hobby who is preening itself and moving around & even flapping its tiny winglets at 02:05.

Mom returns with food and she begins a feeding. When finished she tucks her chick in underneath her and broods it. Everything is going smoothly now for the Hobby family which is encouraging news! Thank you for watching!

"This is the 3rd year we have been fortunate to set up this camera and the 4th year that we know hobbies have used this location to nest. The adult male is the same male (he is ringed) but we think the female is a new bird as she doesn’t have the aberrant white feather on her head which has been present in previous years. We still don’t have a full ring number for the male but are fairly certain he was ringed as a chick by us in 2019 approx. 10km away. " Thank you for watching!
