7 crosswind landings in 7 minutes at Bristol Airport! Not the windiest of days, but when the wind is coming from the South as it was on this occassion, it doesn't seem to take much to cause a few challenging approaches! My theory is that the southerly wind gets whipped up by the Mendip Hills south of the airport, accentuating the wind speed and turbulence experienced on final approach? Either way, here's a handful of sporty landings with some awesome 'drifting' on display, i.e crabbing! This is where the plane is angled slightly into wind to keep the aircraft tracking in a straight line, just as a boat would offset its heading if it was crossing a river with a strong current perpendicular to it's intended path.
