Ken Wallis was an inventor and aviation pioneer. Among his many achievements he developed the autogyro and it became his passion. He built at least 18 and kept them in a hangar in the grounds of his Norfolk home. He flew 'Little Nellie' as the standin for Sean Connery who was James Bond in the film 'You Only Live Twice'. In my youth I marvelled at his skill when, at air displays, he would throw the autogyro around the sky. In middleage I watched him again, now 84, do the same thing. He was an inspiration and one of those people who helped put the 'great' into Great Britain.
