A fresh snowfall greets us in mid January of 2023 in the mountain town of Castiglione Messer Marino in the Abruzzo region of Italy. Castiglione Messer Marino is nearly 1,100 metres above sea level and regularly sees a white winter and cold temperatures that can last through April.

The snowfall first occurred in January which led the village streets to be inaccessible and front doors to be completely snowed in. Cars that were not moved beforehand remain buried under many feet of snow for multiple days.
