We peek through our window, snowflakes snowflakes everywhere!
With no leaves, trees are bare as snowflakes dance in the air
We sip hot chocolate with marshmallows in a cozy chair
Then grab gloves, hats, snowsuits and boots, we’ll need to wear

Winter is here, we hear the drummer boy drumming
And in fireplaces, Yule logs are burning
Gnomes on the mantel protecting the family
And nutcrackers bringing good fortune while guarding

Can you smell yummy decorated cookies baking
And beautiful songs from carolers caroling
When it’s a snow day, to school we won’t be going
We stay home when snow is high & still snowing

As we step outside, we see icicles dangling
And many neighbors outside who are shoveling,
Snow plows with mounds of snow they’re pushing
Snow angels, a snowman and we save snow for ice cream

By the log cabin, bears are hibernating
Animals leave tracks like deer and bunnies
Moose, skunks, foxes and coyotes
And we even leave tracks from the boots on our feet!

The winter brings so many fun activities
Ponds turn to ice for ice skating and ice fishing
There’s skiing, sledding, tobogganing and snow tubing
Snowboarding, sleigh rides and snowmobiling

Are those sleigh bells we hear jing jing jingling
Does that mean Santa’s coming out of hiding
It’s the winter season and the snow is falling
Look at all the pretty holiday lights glowing

Winter brings holidays many families enjoy celebrating

Though there are many, love is at the heart of each

Families sing together during Hanukkah
You’ll also see the lighting of the 9 branched menorah
Yummy sufganiyot, latkes and the game of dreidel
For each of the 8 days, you light one of the candles

During Christmas, families celebrate the birth of baby Jesus
They decorate evergreen trees with ornaments like doves
Garland, lights, candy canes, bells, and a star up above
And under the tree you’ll find presents wrapped with love

Stockings line fireplaces awaiting presents
You’ll see gingerbread houses and gingerbread men
On Christmas Eve, children try to sleep despite their excitement
Because on Christmas Day they’ll be opening presents

Some leave cookies and milk for Santa to enjoy in the night
Get toys if you’re nice from the list elves checked twice
Then off on his reindeer sleigh, Rudolph’s red nose so bright
The house, quiet as a mouse until Christmas daylight

Kinara candles lit for Kwanzaa’s 7 days of unity
Goals are planned with gratitude on New Year’s Eve
We honor Martin Luther King Jr., who dreamt of equality
And show our love on Valentine’s Day with hugs and sweets!
