On 1 May 1982, British Task Force arrived in the vicinity of the Falklands / Malvinas. The famous Black Buck raid against Port Stanley airport by a single Vulcan bomber was quickly followed by twelve Sea Harriers from HMS Hermes. Nine of them attacked Port Stanley while three attacked the airstrip at Goose Green. Argentina never deployed any fast jets on the Islands, but light attack Pucara aircraft were obviously considered potentially dangerous enough to the British invasion force to justify such a risky attack.
