Here's how to build a ESP32 WLED controller for 24v LEDs with a buck (voltage) converter and LEVEL SHIFTER on a prototype board. You could do similar for 12v or 5v.

[BEWARE] I used a bidirectional level shifter. The official recommendation is a SN74AHCT125 https://kno.wled.ge/basics/compatible..., which is harder to get hold of in the UK. When installed at present, I have flickering and this could be due to the level shifter. I'll update the video and description when I can troubleshoot!
