Gaming Sins' Everything Wrong With Wolfentstein: The Old Blood:    • Video  

"Wolfenstein: Old Blood" is the standalone prequel DLC to last years "Wolfenstein: New Order." MachineGames uses the same engine here, and it feels just as good as it did in "New Order."

The game's story is interesting and stands on its own without "New Order," The game is separated into two parts. The first one, "Rudi Jäger and the Den of Wolves," does a good job tying in with the main game storyline. The second one is more of a side adventure. It's quirky and different from the atmosphere already established in "New Order." You'll be fighting some Nazi zombies in the second half, and in general feels like some IndianaJonesstyleadventuring.

This game is definitely worth a $20 purchase, especially if you enjoy trying the harder difficulties, and if you like finding the various collectibles. The game is 8 chapters, while "New Order" was 16. In many ways, it feels like you're getting half the size of the original game for one third if the price. Gun play feels lively and powerful. There is a nice balance between gun fights and stealth. Overall the game is fun to play through. The story is better in the main game, if only because it felt like a more complete experience with much more character development. Nonetheless, the story here is much better than 95% of other similar style storybasedDLC.
