A step in the right direction getting a double glazed window installed into my temporary bedroom. It's a shame to remove the cast iron crittall window but it's been creating a torrent of damp, I'll use the pieces somewhere else.
I'm endeared with the green, linseed paint for the new wooden window, I've chosen a linseed oil paint as I like it for the same reasons I like hot lime mortars; it breathes.
After seeing and reading so much about modern plastic paints cracking prematurely, plus trapping moisture into wood thus making it rot quickly; I thought it was a no brainer to use a linseed oil based paint.
The mortar I'm using to repair the brickwork around the window is a hot mix lime mortar, I've tried to match it to the original as well as I can.
The brickwork is a bit of a DIY effort, no doubt a proper bricklayer would do a better job in quarter of the time but it's enjoyable & rewarding work.
The window is nearly done now just need to let the lime slowly dry then tamp it off with a churn brush.
Thanks for watching, Max.
