Yes its a pumpkin box, after all Halloween is at the end of the month. So I'm using a piece of poplar that's been hanging around my workshop for a long time, its very dry and prone to tear out. After getting the shape I desire i have to sand with 60 grit to make it smooth. The wood is very soft this makes it easier to sand in the grooves to create the pumpkin shape. The finish is two coats of shellac and renaissance wax which gives the pumpkin a nice orangey colour. The stalk is a piece of walnut made as a lid with a chamfered end.
