This week I ventured up to 9,600ft on the Cascade Saddle. Last year this route was absolutely demolished by big avalanche slides and mostly unaccessible until nearly July. This year I am taking advantage of a lighter winter and getting up in the alpine much earlier than in 2023. This week I also talk about the North Face Summit VECTIV Pro 2 that I have been wearing the last 46 weeks. I've put nearly 160 miles on them, 62 of which were race miles during the Gorge Waterfalls 100k just a few weeks ago. It's a great shoe to be short. The foam/carbon wing combo is very nice and responsive, the fit and lockdown are VERY good, the durability definitely seems to be there although 160 just isn't that many and all in all it's a great show. A few things I hope they change in the next iteration would be the collar is just TOO stiff and the tread is not beefy enough. Seriously, other than those two things I think this shoe is definitely worth the hefty price tag.
