The Wykoff Loop is a 32 mile loop constructed using a section of the Quehanna Trail and several additional smaller trails in Quehanna Wild Area. This trail offers isolated hiking and stunning natural beauty. Being in the heart of the Quehanna Wilds allows you the chance to see a variety of wildlife including elk. Most of the trail offers relatively level terrain; however, when the trail climbs in and out of drafts it can be rather challenging. Water is quite plentiful especially in springtime. Campsites are fairly prevalent along the Big Spring Draft and Quehanna Trails. The western side of this loop that utilizes the Quehanna Trail East Cross Connector can be very wet and boggy in sections so expect to get your feet wet. I would recommend hiking this trail in the spring or fall as sections can get quite overgrown in the summer months. I definitely recommend this loop to anyone looking for a nice weekend backpacking loop that offers gorgeous scenery and isolated hiking. I hiked this loop counterclockwise starting at the Hoover Farm Viewing Area parking lot.
