Hey! How ya doin! Now, to be honest with you, I had no plans of watching XMen ’97, I had absolutely no intention of making a HiTop Films XMen ’97 Video Essay. I had no idea that I would find XMen ’97, in a world full of Disney+ branded nostalgia bait, to be so special. Point is XMen ’97 is Special. It’s raw, and so very real, and as a guy who had no attachment to the original XMen 90’s Show, I found myself moved by the story of these outsiders. I never really read XMen growing up, of course I watched the original trilogy on loop, and adore XMen First Class like no other, so I really did not expect to be so drawn and invested in the story of Cyclops (never thought I'd say that), Magneto, Storm and the entire xmen. This is al less an XMen ’97 review, and more a passionate ramble about why I think the show is gem in a sea full of muck. I hope you enjoy this XMen Video Essay, ramble, whatever you call this. I guess maybe I should finally watch XMen The Animated Series, or just watch some Magneto send a coin flying through my head.
