تدور الحلقة حول قصة الموسيقار العالمي «لودفيج فان بيتهوفن» وكيف ظهر كموهبة استثنائية تعد أوروبا بخلافة الموسيقار «موزارت» الذي ظهرت عبقريته منذ الطفولة.
نجح بيتهوفن في إبداء عبقرية توازي موزارت لكن تأثرت شخصيته بتربية والده القاسية ليظهر جانب عبقري يكره كل صور الإكراه والإجبار ويعتبر الموسيقى تعبير عن الحرية وجانب نرجسي يحاول طوال الوقت إثبات الأفضلية وانتزاع المركز الأول.
يتعرض «بيتهوفن» لفقدان السمع التدريجي الذي يضع تاريخ صلاحية مُنهيًا موهبته، ويقرر تأليف موسيقى خالدة تُحرره من سجن أبيه، ومن عاهته الجسدية، بدلًا من تأليف موسيقى مقيدة بشروط عصرها وأذواق النبلاء، لتتحول موسيقى «بيتهوفن» إلى رمز للحرية أو كيف يُمكن للإنسان أن يتغلب على قيود عصره وزمنه، وعيوب شخصيته، وسجن المرض، يموت بيتهوفن وحيدًا لكن تنال موسيقاه الخلود للأبد.
