The Yamaha Montage M Series of synthesizers offers three nextgen keyboards that massively elevate sound quality and selection, liveperformance control and workflow. The flagship trio is astutely tailored to the needs of specific players, and includes the Montage M6 for synth aces, Montage M7 for keyboardists and Montage M8x for pianists.

The abundant upgrades incorporated into the Yamaha Montage M Series are demonstrated by Nicholas Semrad, a Grammynominated keyboardist and sound designer whose performance needs span between stage and studio. Semrad choose the Montage M8x to play through all of the unique features of the series—including the polyphonic aftertouch that’s only offered on the M8x—as well as share his favorite sounds, the depth of programming and the fluid controls and workflow that make music creation easy and fun.

At the heart of the Yamaha Montage M Series keyboards are three sound engines that serve up a diverse assortment of moods, feels and atmospheres for virtually any style of music. Your artistic journey can begin by calling up authentic instruments via the improved AWM2 samplebased engine, analog synths from the new ANX Virtual Analog engine, and 8operator FMX synthesis, or simply dig into the expanded, preset wave library.

“Yamaha increased the amount of elements from eight to 128 for the Montage M, so your programs can be so much deeper in terms of the amount of options you have and the amount of things you can play at one time,” says Semrad. “Furthermore, the increased polyphony on the Montage M Series boards lets you have these very complex sounds with a bunch of different parts happening. No gig is going to be too big for you.”

Other enhancements include new and enriched expressive controls (updated ribbon, hold button and more), improved navigation and quicker screen response, USB MIDI and audio interfaces and more. The Montage M Series even sweat the “small” details to ensure that wherever you perform, you won’t face moments where you can’t comfortably and quickly get to what you need.

“I can’t tell you the number of gigs I’ve done where it’s pitch black on stage,” says Semrad. “But the Montage M boards have a really great, very visible screen at the top, and that thing is going to save my life—and hopefully yours, as well—in those scenarios. Also, everything on here loads fast and the programming screens are very response—all of which make using this board a way more simple and easy experience, so you don’t get detached from the creative process.”
