Today we explore the beautiful town of Yangshuo, near Guilin in China, the highlight was the bamboo rafting down the river but then everything changed that would affect our holiday for the next few days.

We start our day by having breakfast at our Hotel, the Yangshuo Mountain Retreat overlooking the Yulong River. This is such a fabulous location for a hotel, it is very peaceful and the scenery is amazing.

After breakfast we walk up river to the bamboo raft station where we get on a couple of bamboo rafts and sail down the Yulong River for a few KM's.

We go over a number of little waterfalls as we head down the river. It is really relaxing and I would recommend it to anyone who is in Yangshuo.

After we finished sailing down the river we walked back to our hotel where we relaxed on the balcony of our room watching the bamboo rafts coming down the river before having lunch outside in the hotel gardens.

After relaxing for a couple more hours Matthew became really ill with food poisoning, which must have been from the lunch.

In the evening we had planned to see Impressions Sanjie Liu, with more than 600 performers, in the worlds biggest natural auditorium that uses the Li River waters as its stage and the karst mountains as its backdrop. Unfortunately we needed to cancel it as the main priority was looking after Matthew.

As Matthew was so ill all evening and all night I looked if we could rearrange our train tickets to Kong Kong, but it was impossible as there was not seats available for the next few days.
