Artist: Year Of The Owl
Song: Year Of The Owl

Hey ya'll (Rudi here)! #YearOfTheOwl is a new lil' side project Fran & I are doin'. Personally, I really hate selftitled albums (I like it better when albums have THEIR OWN title... What can I say, ya'll. I just think S/T album titles are lame). So instead of making the first ALBUM selftitled, I suggested just naming the first SINGLE the project title. & Boom, here it is: YEAR OF THE OWL.

We're basically just gonna write / record some songs whenever we feel like it, have em' professionally mixed / mastered, & release em' one (or a couple) at a time on Spotify / AppleMusic / all streaming platforms. Eventually, once we have enough songs, we'll surely rerelease them as an entire album too. But this just seemed like a fun change of pace / more 'modern' approach to writing & releasing music (at least, relative to what we're both used to doing!). No writing a full album at once & stressing out, trying to prepare a full release in one go. No label or anything. Just selfreleasing songs as we write them, adding em' online so they're accessible, & of course probably filming video of the recording (like we've done for this one here!). I.e., the point is to just have fun writing / recording some rad instrumental tunes, with no stress.

Mix / Master was done by Declan White. Declan's a PHENOMENAL engineer based in Australia (he's also mixed the vast majority of my drum videos in recent years), & we're thrilled with the job he's done. We'll surely be asking him to mix / master the songs to come, too.

Special thanks to #TAMA / #IBANEZ !!! For those that don't know, Tama & Ibanez are sibling companies under the Hoshino umbrella. Fran & I have both worked with Ibanez / Tama (respectively) for years now, & we have great relationships with them. They're the best people, makin' the best gear. Shoutout to my Tama rep, Sam, & Fran's Ibanez rep, Mike, for letting him use their L.A. facility & cameras for the guitar filming.

Drums were recorded in my basement in Maryland (obviously), & the video was edited by myself! Was a fun one to edit, too!
