Yorkshire FAT RASCALS a delightful BRITISH treat

Follow
Backyard Chef

A Yorkshire Fat Rascal at Betty's Tea Shop in York, UK, is a traditional British treat, reminiscent of a scone but richer and more flavorful. These delightful pastries are made with a blend of flour, butter, sugar, eggs, and a mix of dried fruits like currants and candied citrus peel. They are often spiced with Mixed spice or cinnamon and nutmeg, giving them a warm, inviting aroma and taste.

Each Fat Rascal typically has a distinctive face made from cherries and almonds pressed into the top before baking. They're slightly larger and more ruggedlooking than a standard scone, with a goldenbrown exterior and a soft, crumbly interior.

Betty's Tea Shop, a famous and historic establishment in York, has popularized Fat Rascals. They serve these treats warm, often accompanied by a pot of tea. The shop is known for its classic, early 20thcentury decor, creating an inviting atmosphere that complements the traditional British tea experience.

The Yorkshire Fat Rascal offers a taste of British baking traditions and provides a unique culinary experience, especially in the historic and cozy setting of Betty's Tea Shop in York.
