Employment attorney Adam Gonnelli discusses how employers all across the country are stealing time and money from their own employees.

Employers can use several different ways in which to steal both money and time from their own employees. This is called wage theft. More commonly, wage theft is seen as employees working off the clock and not getting paid for it. An example would be a bartender who could not clock in until the first customer arrived but still had to stock the bar and clean up until then.

Wage theft can be found in all types of industries not just in the food service industry. Employees in industries such as finance, healthcare and even retail can be victims of wage theft as well. You may not be paid for lunches that you had to work through or misclassified as a salary employee to avoid being paid overtime. Just as it is stealing if you claim you worked 8 hours instead of the 6 you actually worked, your employer must be held to the same standard of not stealing from you. Watch this video to learn more.
