SYNOPSIS

The race for student body president is heating up, but does Charlie Brown really have a shot at winning the election?
Realizing that the odds aren't in his favor after Lucy takes a poll of the entire student body, Charlie makes the decision to back the campaign of his old pal Linus.

THE SOUNDTRACK

The music for "You're Not Elected, Charlie Brown" was composed by Vince Guaraldi and conducted and arranged by John Scott Trotter.
The score was performed by the Vince Guaraldi Quintet on August 22, 1972, at Wally Heider Studios.

"You're Not Elected, Charlie Brown" is notable for marking the debut of Snoopy's "Joe Cool" theme song, sung by Guaraldi. Also included is an extended instrumental version of Joe Cool; the brilliant “Joe Cool (Instrumental),” is a stillcool groove, matching Pat O’Hara’s sinewy flute with Vince Guaraldi’s spikey guitar.

Guaraldi debuted the title track "Incumbent Waltz" here; it appears no less than four times in the show. A few new jazzy tunes appear such as "Fast Piano Jazz" and "Blue Charlie Brown".
And what would a Peanuts special be without "Linus and Lucy"?
