Marking the culmination of a yearlong talent development programme, the Youth Takeover presented 'composite', an exhibition featuring new commissions by young artists based in the UAE and works from the Art Jameel Collection, accompanied by a public programme of free workshops and the yearly Takeover Curators Panel.⁠

This year’s theme, 'composite', asks “what makes us?”⁠

With eight original commissions, the exhibition proposes that the self holds multiple sources and components. 'composite' and all the selves, remind us of our capacity to change by growing slowly, inching forward, yet eroding and weathering too.⁠

The Youth Takeover 2023 is curated by Auguste Nomeikaite, Bilal Bashir, Farah Ali, Hala El Abora, Karno Dasgupta, Nathaniel Enriquez, Ronald Ekore and Saba Sayfaiee.⁠

This year’s learning programme was designed, curated and facilitated by Youth Assembly alumna Shama Nair.⁠
