It is finally out! Hoyoverse's newest title is here and let's see what all the hype is about! Zenless Zone Zero, also known as ZZZ, is an action game that takes place in an awesome urban dystopian setting that feels both retro and cyberpunk. In the same style of the Matrix we help certain groups to delve into the network to perform certain tasks and take out monsters.
The combat is swift and responsive and has a big focus on chaining attacks together with your various characters for long combos. It feels way more visceral and fast paced than the combat of Genshin Impact.
The characters this time around have a way more modern look and feel with bright neon colors for their clothing, modern tools and accessories and even actual robots. The character design is some of Hoyoverse's best yet with currently Nicole being my favorite.
There is also a big emphasis on pop culture from the late 90's with video rental stores and retro arcades. The enviroments look alive and detailed and are a true joy to explore. I do wish they were a bit bigger, though and I am more a fan of a giant overworld, instead of smaller sections. The cutscenes are beautifully animated and the voice acting is stellar. I'm not exactly sure how I feel about the television route minigame yet, but we will see as more chapters will be archived. For the first 5 hours it definitely felt like an awesome experience and I cannot wait to see where this crazy story takes me!
