Paul Francis: Welcome to the Zildjian Sound Lab video. Today we're going to talk about one of the bread and butter cymbals in anybody's set up. This is the 14" A Zildjian New Beat HiHats. Now originally hihats we the same weight and they were matched by pitch by the cymbal testers in the Zildjian Vault. Around 1966 an extra heavy bottom started to get matched with a mediumthin top. And it was Louie Bellson who originally asked for this combination. Around 1970 is when Zildjian actually started to promote them as New Beat HiHats.

These are the gold standard when it comes to hihat cymbal sounds because they work in any type of genre of music. They're available in 13", 14" and 15" sizes. And I welcome you to check them out a Zildjian.com or at your local Zildjian dealer.
