TITB (This Is The BAIT)

In this series we go in depth about the BAIT. I show you what it looks like in the package, how to rig it, what it looks like underwater, and then how it catches fish on the water!

This episode is built off the Zmann 1/8oz. Chatterbait Micro. They just released a chatterbait mini max, a beefed up version of the chatter bait mini. I wish they would do the same to the micro! I love this little bait, minus it's pitfalls. I really love this 1 3/4 oz. Mr Crappie Crappie Thunder as a trailer because it keeps the profile of the bait short and fat. The tentacles also make so much more movement and vibration in the water.

It is the perfect weight to fish real shallow, and it is not very big so you don't spook fish when you cast right on them. When fishing this bait it vibrates and moves a lot of water for its size. I have caught some really big fish on this little guy. In 2020, my biggest fish and my buddy timbo bassin's biggest fish was caught on this bait. You can let it sink all the way to the bottom and then twitch your rod tip and fish it kind of like a cross between a swim jig and soft jerkbait. It also works well if you just want to cast it out and reel it in, or troll with it.

I wish they made it with a painted blade, and more color options (at least green pumpkin...) It really does have the profile of a square bill crank without the snagability. A hand tied skirt would really be nice as well. I might just do that for my next adventure, paint a blade and hand tie a skirt onto this really powerful platform.

I was using a med rod with an slx dc with 30lb braid and a 20lb flouro leader. Sometimes they will hit it as soon at it hits the water, on the fall, as soon as it tags structure or bottom, or they will hammer it on the retrieve.
