How to make creepy zombie gingerbread man cookies for Halloween.
My Halloween playlist:

The recipe I made in the video was a half of the recipe listed below. It made about 12 large gingerbread zombies.

Gingerbread Dough Recipe:
Demonstrated in this video (    • Gingerbread Log Cabin Part 1   )

1 cup shortening
1 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
3/4 cups fancy molasses
1/2 cups blackstrap or cooking molasses (I used 1 1/4 fancy for both molasses because I did not have the blackstrap in the house)
6 1/4 cups all purpose flour
2 tsp ginger
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp ground cloves

Cream together sugar and shortening, beat in eggs one at a time.
Add molasses and blend well.
**Add in some green food colour at this point if desired. A couple of teaspoons of liquid food colour will give you a nice green colour. The amount is up to you. I would have added more to mine if I were to make this again because the green colour didnt show very well. **
In another bowl mix together flour, salt and spices.
Blend dry ingredients a little at a time into the wet mixture until a dough forms. Using hands if necessary form a dough ball, divide into two equal portions. Wrap dough in plastic wrap or put into plastic bags and refrigerate for at least 12 hours. I let mine sit in the fridge overnight.

Roll out the dough between sheets of parchment paper to about one quarter of an inch thickness. You can work with a small portion of dough at a time if you find that easier, just put the unrolled portions into the refrigerator while you are rolling the others.
Cut out the gingerbread shapes and leave them in place, put the parchment on a cookie sheet and put it in the freezer for 15 minutes to chill it. This will make it easier to remove and transfer the cutouts.
Place the cutouts on a greased cookie sheet or covered with parchment.
Using tools in your kitchen make your cookie men look like they were attacked by zombies. You can insert small pieces of pretzel stick into the amputated limbs like shown in the video. Add bite marks and scratch marks as desired.
Place the cutouts in the freezer for 15 minutes prior to baking.
Bake at 350 F for 1518 minutes until cookies are set and lightly browned on the edges and underneath. Allow to cool completely and then decorate with candies and frosting as desired.
