When I bought the ZWO ASI071MC PRO, I found myself pondering over whether I should invest in the newer 2600MCpro. With a remarkable 7 years having passed since the release of this legendary camera, I couldn't help but question my decision.

As someone who still needed to acquire filters, is primarily focused on monochrome astrophotography and another monochrome camera on way the price of the 2600MC seemed a bit steep and the 071MC PRO seemed to be priced just right.

However, I decided to take a leap of faith and purchase this sevenyearold camera new and perfectly timed with galaxy season upon us. With an abundance of broad spectrum targets at my disposal, it's the ultimate test to determine if I will fall in love with this camera or be left disappointed.

Will 16MP prove to be sufficient? Will I encounter the dreaded sensor frost? Join me as I embark on this journey, capturing my first photons with the oncereigning king of the APSC cameras.
